With the widespread acceptance that energy price increases will hit homeowners in the spring, now more than ever, there is a case for our housing stock to be more energy-efficient.

FMB South is working with The Green Register and Low Carbon Homes to push the conversation further. Both have committed to providing the necessary resources for building professionals to learn, share and showcase best practices.

The Green Register and Low Carbon Homes are running a series of webinars aimed at professionals from all disciplines of the construction industry. Here are a few to look out for:

Driving Retrofit Quality, 10 February 2022 4:00 PM

It is well understood that buildings are responsible for a significant amount of our total carbon emissions. In particular, many existing buildings perform very poorly in relation to current building standards and need to be urgently upgraded to improve their performance. This online seminar will focus on domestic retrofit and cover the Each Home Counts review, Trustmark and PAS 2035. Find out more.

Real-life Retrofit: Case studies - 3. Pragmatic Retrofit with Low Carbon Materials, 17 February 2022 16:00-18:00

This online event series has documented three different retrofit case studies in the Bristol area, each building with a unique history and retrofit plan. Working with contractors trained under our Futureproof programme, we focus upon retrofit in real life to show the challenges and solutions in upgrading the performance of older buildings.

Retrofitting Traditional Buildings 1: Principles and Practice, Part 1, 2 March 2022 09:30 - 13:00

Addressing energy efficiency is fast becoming one of the most pressing issues for older, traditionally-constructed buildings. However, retaining character and significance can be at odds with achieving improved thermal efficiency. There is increasing evidence highlighting the benefits and the risks of different technical solutions. This online training course covers emerging research, best practices, and case studies in upgrading traditional and historic buildings.

We will keep you informed of Low Carbon events, webinars, and related activities in the South throughout 2022, bringing you opportunities to develop your business in this fast-growing Low Carbon construction and retrofit sector. Please get in touch if you want to take on a more active role in this sector via [email protected].

Meanwhile, you can visit The Green Register and Low Carbon homes website for more general information.
