Simone McAllister, FMB Business Development Executive for Scotland and Northern Ireland

Simone’s role involves being a direct contact with members by listening to and supporting you. Simone is here to help Scotland members get the most out of their membership, which could involve enhancing your Find a Builder profile or answering any questions you may have on the FMB’s work. Simone also provides back-up to FMB’s Scotland and Northern Ireland Directors.

What can our Scottish members expect from Simone?

Simone will be reaching out to all members on a personal level to establish their needs and wants from their membership.  As most of you will be aware, FMB is run by members for members, and we want to make sure you are getting what you need from your membership.

If you haven’t already received a call from Simone, you will be hearing from her soon. We want to build a better understanding about your business and what projects you are working on. This will help us to establish what we can do to better support our members across Scotland.

How will this help me as a member of the FMB?

When chatting to members, Simone will establish your needs and what can be offered within the membership to support you. This may be discounts, FMB contracts or details on our business helplines for example. Any feedback you have on wider issues such as trading conditions, access to labour or other industry or policy issues will be passed onto Gordon Nelson: FMB’s Scotland Director. Often wider economic or policy issues affecting members are discussed by the FMB Scotland Board.

What are other members saying at the moment?

Most remain very busy but material inflation and the uncertainty of whether and how long this will continue means that members are continuing to find pricing and tendering a “nightmare” (in the words of one member). Cashflow pressures are an issue for some members in the Highlands and Islands: owing to long delays in materials being delivered, with members having to pay for the goods upfront. Labour and skills shortages abound, with some regions of Scotland coping better than others.
