Bathroom Project - IPSUM (UK) Ltd (Yorkshire and Trent)

IPSUM (UK) Ltd impressed the judges by making optimal use of this unusual space to deliver a fantastic ensuite bathroom as part of a larger extension and refurbishment project. Communicating closely with their client from the outset of the build to capture the desired aesthetic, the team installed a column and twin shower feature described by the judges as “superb”. They also acknowledged the builder’s skill in tackling the “incredibly challenging” tiling requirements in such an unconventional floorplan and hailed the finished product as a “lovely looking project in what was an awkward space.”

The judges noted the great company ethos, particularly its vision for the future, its training of staff, and the commitment to sustainability and maintaining zero-waste in their projects. Taking the time to invest in tradespeople who share the company’s mission has seen this Master builder grow exponentially even in the recent tough conditions.

House Builder Award winner – Keigar Homes Ltd (Yorkshire & Trent)

This project saw Keigar Homes Ltd build five new homes on a site which was previously home to several dilapidated agricultural structures. Reclaiming materials from the old buildings, the team integrated what they could into the new homes in order to maintain a rustic aesthetic sympathetic to the local area. The judges noted how great care was taken at all times to ensure the safety of pupils attending the primary school opposite, and how the homes were well received by their new owners, with one stating they “would just like to say thank you to everyone involved with the build. It is a fantastic design."

Kitchen Project - Raja Sahib Building Construction Ltd

Showcasing high-gloss cabinetry and finished with a keen eye for style, this extensive kitchen renovation project by Raja Sahib Building Construction Ltd saw them stripping the original room back to the shell and repositioning the boiler to make way for the new design. Implementing a new, low-maintenance PVC ceiling, the team also introduced LED lighting throughout and a full range of modern appliances, including a main oven with a slide-away door system and pyrolytic cleaning functions. The judges noted the fabulous contrasting colours, and the glowing testimonial from the client who said, “Thanks for making our dream project come true”.

Large Renovation Project - IPSUM (UK) Ltd (Yorkshire & Trent)

IPSUM (UK)’s comprehensive renovation of this property involved building a large rear extension, a garage extension, swimming pool building alterations, and a full refurbishment of the interior spaces. Working closely with their client right from the initial stages, the team were excited to take on what was their biggest tender to date and impressed the judges with an unconventional design and complex roof structure. The homeowner was delighted with the build and the service they received, stating: “I was particularly impressed with the attention to detail and standard of workmanship, nothing was too much trouble”.

Medium Renovation Project - York Builder.com Ltd (Yorkshire and Trent)

York Builder.com completed the renovation of a Grade II Listed outbuilding of a former rectory, which included an extension to accommodate an indoor swimming pool.  The addition of the swimming pool with a changing room and bathroom area saw the team undertake tricky groundworks required to protect the existing structures. Together with an architect and structural engineer, they worked diligently to underpin the existing building and create room for the new pool. The judges loved the way the new addition “hides” amongst the other buildings on the site, revealed only after drawing back a sliding door, which they deemed “impressive” in its own right.

Tradesperson of the Year - Simon Meadows of Sheffield Garage Conversions Ltd (Yorkshire & Trent)

Displaying an outstanding dedication to customer service throughout the build process and thereafter – even to the point of employing cleaners for clients – Simon Meadows’ nomination really stood out to the judges. His efforts to keep morale high amongst colleagues through supporting all aspects of their work have not gone unnoticed at Sheffield Garage Conversions, not to mention the wealth of experience and knowledge he brings to every job. The judges also thought Simon’s habit of sending customers a “thank you” gift with a poem on completion of projects was a “nice touch”.
