The Extendout team delivered an energy efficient retrofit throughout this Victorian home in South London, whilst adding valuable living space with a side-return extension. The bar was set high by their client, who at the time worked as an Energy and Carbon Manager within the City of London Corporation.
An air source heat pump provides a renewable source of electricity, with triple-glazed windows, internal wood fibre insulation, breathable lime plaster and a Mechanical Extraction Ventilation (MEV) to keep the heat in and prevent damp. Judges praised this ‘real upgrade in sustainability’.

Two skylights flood the room, enhancing the high-quality finishes and neutral palette. A freestanding bathtub, spacious shower, and double vanity were seamlessly integrated, showcasing clever space utilisation. Challenges, like integrating smart home technology, were overcome through meticulous coordination. Over the past two years, Home Republic have shifted up a gear, bringing about a strategic change towards managing multiple large-scale projects across London and developing a new design service. All of which they’ve done whilst keeping quality and their clients at the heart of what they do – 'not just creating houses, but building lives'. To enable this, they have streamlined their approach to productivity by developing an app to track surplus material across sites and used tech to track and plan their workforce. Andrii a Ukrainian-born builder who arrived in the UK just six years ago with no English and no formal qualifications, Over the last six years Andrii has mastered the trade, progressed to a team leader, then a site manager and is now a contracts manager for high-end residential projects across London. Andrii’s colleagues and clients have praised his leadership, collaborative, spirit and commitment to excellence. His passion for sustainability and equality perfectly embodies the values Home Republic Limited strive for.

The Kisiel team delivered outstanding ‘build to rent’ apartments despite facing many project challenges. A key feature of the buildings is the unusual shape of the roof. Originally planned to be made from brick slips, alternatives were looked at to create a more durable and sustainable design. Solar panels were installed to generate sufficient electricity to power all the lighting and electrical needs in the communal areas, allowing the buildings to have a reduced carbon footprint. During construction, Construction Minister, Lee Rowley MP visited the site to have conversations with the team and praised ‘this fantastic building’.
Jenni, a fourth-year Quantity Surveyor apprentice, demonstrates exceptional commitment with full attendance and a projected first-class honours degree. She applies her learning to complex projects effectively, managing change control processes throughout. Jenni displays extraordinary character by tackling challenging projects, such as one taking place at the German Embassy, negotiating additional costs whilst ensuring timely completion. She supports her team and clients, fostering successful outcomes. Handling 14 projects worth a combined £4 million, she now works as a fully qualified QS, mentoring new apprentices. Her dedication and success have inspired the company to expand its apprenticeship program. Jenni also actively participates in charity initiatives.
The Neway team were tasked with a comprehensive renovation of their music industry client’s office space. The objective was to modernise the property and retain key period features, whilst creating a bright welcoming space that could welcome star clients and host receptions. The build involved some impressive figures: 3.5 tonnes of acoustic underlay for soundproofing, 87 custom-cut mirrors and hand painted marble-effect fireplaces. They brought light into the nooks and crannies of a 15-metre hallway with smart electrical planning and a custom-ordered magnetic light design. The client praised Neway’s forward-thinking approach to technology and collaboration with specialist trades.
