Working closely … Read more A client we had previously worked for approached us to improve the living & kitchen area to the rear of their home in Cheddar to accommodate a growing family.Working closely with our client we proposed a single storey extension & removal of the rear wall of the house & an internal wall to create a large open plan kitchen, dining & living room
Works Included:
The building of a single storey faced brick extension; with structural openings to create open-plan kitchen, living & dining room
Design & build of a feature fireplace including supply, installation & commission of log burner
Organisation of electric meter relocation with Western Power Distribution
Supply & installation of replacement boiler to be incorporated within kitchen units
Kitchen installation with solid walnut work surfaces
Full house uPVC window replacement
Rewire full house to remove surface cables; replace all frontals for brushed metal & repair of plastering on completion
Widening existing front door opening to incorporate replacement composite door with side lights
All works were completed on schedule within 7 weeks of starting the project in early April 2019

Our brief was to create a modern timber-framed building with high energy performance - but sympathetic to the buildings heritage
Works Included:
Demolition of existing buildings
Excavation in excess of 500 tonnes - all retained for landscaping
Repairs to existing listed building
Provision of utilities
Two-storey timber framed extension - incorporating steel-frame elements
Supply & installation of hardwood joinery - including feature link to existing house
Installation of hot water & heating to meet demand of enlarged home
Supply & installation of stone archway with arched doors
Supply & installation of three bathrooms
Landscaping including terracing with gabions - to create lawn & parking area
Works were completed on schedule November 2019
'We’ve all seen the design & building programmes on TVLots of problems, big fall outs etc .Yes there were problems, but nothing that Ashley & his great team couldn’t sort out.And no fall outs, which when you spend 7 months having the builders in must be fairly rare!

Our brief was to create a striking spacious study & meeting room; combining a renewed home entrance to replace an existing porch & front door; with a patio area for the whole family to enjoy. The works were unavoidably across the main access to our clients home - so our teams considerate & meticulously tidy work practises were essential to maintain safe access to the home for the duration of the project...Works Included:
Demolition of the existing porch
Construction of a single-storey timber framed extension with
Design & build of feature fireplace & custom wood store from reclaimed timber
Installation & commission of log burner by our HETAS approved sub-contractor
Decoration of extension
Supply & installation of LVT flooring throughout to run seamlessly into the existing flooring
Patio & landscaping
All works were completed on schedule (including external landscaping) within 9 weeks of starting the project at the end of March 2019

My project was a very large extension, including bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, Complicated heating & plumbing requirements & miles of wiring to be joined on to existing house. Lots of joinery, a staircase, oak & stone floors, retaining garden walls the list went on! From day one of watching a very nasty extension being demolished, on to digging through unexpected layers of stone to the final days & finishing touches the whole project was handled in a very professional way! I have nothing but praise for Ashley & the team, between them, they seem to be able to tackle anything that is thrown at them & would highly recommend A.S Baker for any project you may have in mind, big or small!

This is the first time we have used A S Baker and we have not been disappointed. Ashley and his team are sympathetic to the needs of an old property and highly professional both in manner and work ethic. We are thrilled with the work they have done in restoring our inglenook fireplace and dresser shelving work. We very much look forward to future projects we have booked with them.
