Comprehensive structural conversion of an existing stone barn to improve internal functionality and ceiling height.
Works included controlled floor level reduction, foundation exposure and structural assessment, installation of geotextile membrane, compacted MOT sub-base and reinforced concrete slab.
Structural alterations comprised forming a new barn door opening, installation of lintels, and careful internal and external raking and lime repointing of exposed stonework to preserve the building’s character.
Below-ground drainage modifications were completed, alongside installation of a new water supply and upgraded 3-phase electrical connection to support future commercial use.
The project required careful coordination between excavation, masonry works and services installation to ensure compliance with Building Control requirements while maintaining the integrity of the existing structure.
