Established over 30 years ago, Burfitt & Garrett Ltd specialise in domestic and commercial construction work across Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset.
At its origin, the company consisted of Ian Burfitt, Steve Garrett and a shared work ethic. Today, the team has grown to over 40 tradesmen and we have earned a reputation for our reliable, efficient and personal building services.
We are able to take on jobs of all sizes from porches, garages, extensions and loft conversions to restorations, listed buildings, new builds, shops and schools. We are also proud to have been the main contractor on numerous high profile local buildings.

09/01/2019 We are re-locating from Camberley Surrey to the above address, although I am originally from Dorset some 20 years ago, you tend to lose contact with local trades. I contacted S E Connell and Son of Poole as I knew they were a good reputable local builder, I spoke to Alan Connell who explained that while they are still trading, Shaftesbury would be a bit of a trek for them, he mentioned that he was the branch secretary for ‘FMB’ and suggested I use the search site on line to find a local company. My husband in the mean time had also done some research and we both came up with the same company ‘Burfitt & Garrett Ltd’ of Shaftesbury Dorset, who are also one of your members. The reason for this letter is to bring to your attention the level of workmanship, quality and standard they work to, Peter Crosse project managed the works which included new roof, chimney stack refurbishment and several walls with new RSJ’s and padstones internally. Peter was always at the end of a phone for any questions we had and responded quickly. While we have been unable to move into the property while the works were being carried out and all our relocation arrangements had to be made, Peter and his team have treated every aspect of the job with the highest of respect, even dusting the windows off at the end of the working day! All works have been carried out speedily, safely and to a very high standard, the workforce are all mindful that this is someone’s home and have acted accordingly. I really cannot praise Peter and his team enough and will definitely use Burfitt & Garrett for any future works we will also recommend - S
