The project involved a glass extension and landscaping works at 82 Derngate, Northampton, which serves as the visitor center for the nearby Charles Rennie Mackintosh House. The extension provided new retail, gallery, and event space, while transforming an overgrown area into a tiered garden for outdoor events. A key feature is the stunning two-story glass structure, which enhances both the museum's functionality and aesthetics. Challenges included the impact of Covid-19, limited site access, and the glass supplier's bankruptcy. The team overcame these by sourcing and installing the glass from Turkey, while maintaining museum operations with minimal disruption.

Judges comments: This bathroom is serenely beautiful with its pink tinged concrete bath, white resin floors, corner window and stunning light fitting which cascades a pattern on the wall, in a room with no pattern detailing. It has a look of simplicity to it, but the nomination details the obstacles which had to be overcome to achieve this.

Judges comments: Paddock House is an absolutely stunning new bespoke 4 storey 5-bedroom house with a magnificent courtyard, 2 separate basements, a 14m pool, incredible stonework and woodwork throughout and a such a phenomenal list of outstanding design features – I think it would do the project an injustice to attempt to summarise them here, although I have to mention that staircase running through all 4 storeys with a continuous oak handrail. I feel the submission, images and video justify my perfect score, in what was an extremely tight category to judge, including “super prime” projects and budgets!

When Caroline and Bruce approached Cornerhouse Building Contactors to turn their vision for 34C The Square into reality they were ready for the challenge that lied ahead to turn this neglected property into a unique dwelling for these first-time property owners.

34C or as it came to be affectionately known as “The Hovel” was an old carpenter’s shop that had been left unused for quite a number of years and had started to deteriorate to the point the front wall had started to belly out and if it had not been for the old staircase attached to the joists the wall would not have been standing. The property had had several planning applications to change it into a dwelling but Caroline’s brother, an RIBA architect, had developed these previous designs to ensure it would be a dwelling that worked for Caroline and Bruce.

The project was a new house that was designed by the client with input from an architect and structural design team. The client had spent over 12 months finalizing the design of their "forever home". Cornerhouse was introduced to the client and selected to complete their build following past client testimonials and references.

Cornerhouse has developed and grown over the past 2 years. One of the most important goals as a company is to make a project enjoyable for the clients, for many of them we are turning their dreams into reality and we are creating a family home for them to enjoy for years to come. Our team of employees and subcontractors work hard to make this happen, the only down side to this is that we cannot accommodate everyone and we have to turn down some projects. Our biggest challange to date has been the covid situation but we have managed to keep the projects we have been working on on track and by working with our clients have ensured our team are working safe.
