Cortis Construction LTD were double winners at the FMB Midland Master Builder Awards 2017 and 2019, with Steve Smith being awarded the region's most Heavenly Builder and the company winning best Small Renovation Project and best kitchen project.
They secured both awards for a renovation project that included two new extensions, knocking out the entire back of the house and constructing a new balcony and kitchen.
The team overcame challenges including the stability of the house, blending old with new and enabling the clients to continue living at the property and running their business from home while the build took place. Steve’s knowledge, commitment and attention to detail overcame all of the challenges, as he found solutions and suggested ideas on how to achieve the client’s vision, making him a deserving winner of most Heavenly Builder.

We have been established for about 20 years and have experience in all aspects of the building Industry from new build houses to replacing a few tiles on a roof, we treat all jobs with the same care and consideration no matter of size. We pride ourselves in being honest, hardworking and reliable, we keep our customers Informed at all stages in a Project. We take a lot of pride in our work and have a keen eye for the Small details. We have a wide skill base that includes bricklaying, carpentry, roofing and plastering. We find this helps as we can deal with all jobs and rarely have to bring in outside contractors. This means we have a good team that work well and we feel this helps in making a job run smoothly.

Our build was a large complex project comprising of two extensions, refurbishment, landscaping with a large balcony above one extension. From the first time we met Steve we knew we had found the right builder. He was the only one that could interpret our vision. He was friendly, enthusiastic, positive and professional. He drew our plans submitted them and dealt with every aspect right from the start. He was approachable, easy to work with and his knowledge and attention to detail impressed us. He had our complete trust. The project involved knocking out the whole of the back of our house at ground floor level, adding a new extension, huge bifold doors, but strong enough to take a large first floor balcony complete with glass balustrade. The complexity of this was huge and needed exact calculations and specifications. This was not a normal build, for us all very scary. Challenges included the stability of our house, the construction, how to blend old with the new, how we were going to live at the property and run our business from home. Steve’s knowledge, commitment and attention to detail overcame all of the challenges producing solutions and suggesting ideas on how to achieve our vision.
