Our brief was to comprehensively restore and renovate a Grade II listed house on the Calthorpe Estate, built around 1850. The project, aimed at adapting the home for a modern, growing family, included a loft conversion, roof replacement, wine cellar, new bathrooms for each bedroom, a kitchen overhaul, updated heating and electrical systems, window replacements, and external landscaping with lighting. Restoring the home's original features was paramount.
The house, a long-term home for clients with new twins, demanded an integration of modern amenities with its historical charm. A full team, including designers, tradespeople, stonemasons, stained glass artists, and cabinet makers, was involved.
A highlight was the new staircase to the loft, designed in the original house style, blending seamlessly as an authentic feature. Fun features like quirky secret panelling provide a unique touch, offer a playful element for the children.
