Green Fern Building Services were appointed as Principal Contractor to work in collaboration with Sharpe Architecture, delivering a contemporary and refined home that remains entirely suited to modern family life. The brief required a careful balance: a sleek, design-led interior and rear elevation, while preserving the character and integrity of the original property.

Green Fern Building Services were appointed to transform a tired Grade II listed property, previously divided into multiple business units, into a modern fine dining restaurant that honours its heritage while introducing a refined contemporary identity.

A wrap-around extension creating a large, open-plan kitchen and living space. Existing internal floor levels were lowered to improve flow and proportions throughout the new layout. The project includes the installation of approximately 10 metres of bi-fold doors, opening the kitchen-living area directly onto the garden and enhancing natural light and indoor–outdoor connection. Works also comprise a new MVHR system, a fully upgraded heating system, two new bathrooms, and a bespoke kitchen, delivering a modern, efficient, and high-quality family living space.

he objective of the Stoke-Newington Project was to deliver a meaningful improvement to the kitchen and living space without creating the narrow, tunnel-like proportions that often result from modest rear extensions. The brief was clear: extend only as far as necessary, maximise usable floor area, and ensure the finished space felt open, balanced, and connected to the garden.
