White Lodge is a 200 year old Toll House with significant local history so the clients main objective was to improve the property whilst maintaining the history and enhancing the beauty of the existing building. The existing external wall was to be left exposed internally within the kitchen to give a reminder of the property history. The kitchen is the family’s hub and a place they wanted to have lots of natural light. An open plan kitchen was an important feature, so that it was not only a kitchen but a sociable space, a large kitchen island was key to providing this universal space. Eco features was a client priority so it was a privilege to be bringing this old property up to standards which exceed current building regulations.

This project involved building a large rear extension across the back of the house, a garage extension, swimming pool building alterations, garage extension and full refurbishment. We were responsible for working with the client and architect to ensure the client was completely happy with the design before we started. The client had been impressed with other projects we had completed in the area and the style and level of precision we had worked to. We were delighted when we were approached to tender. It was our biggest tender to date so to be awarded the contract was an amazing feeling for me and our team. We were excited to get going! The client wanted to create a homely space for him and his family, and the space needed to flow and take full advantage of the stunning views of the Nottingham Valley.

This en-suite was part of an extension and refurbishment project we completed. The space and dimensions had been designed by an architect as part of the extension plans but the position and selection of the sanitary ware and tiles had yet to be decided. Pre construction I spent lots of time with the client going through the different material and design options. As with every job it is vital to get an understanding of the overall look he wanted to achieve. The key objective was to maximise this unusual space so that it could be used by two people at the same time.
