Kent Building & Construction Ltd

This project was the first phase of the restoration and conversion of a late 17th Century Sussex barn. We decided to label and dismantle the entire structure and reassemble it on proper foundations. We focused on the larger of two adjoining barns. Its footprint is 10.5m x 15m. The dismantling needed considerable care was needed not to damage materials being used in the rebuilding. It took about 6-7 months to lay foundations, reassemble the oak frame and clad it with insulation. Reroofing followed. Spence and team did an outstanding job. There were a few fairly robust discussions but mostly focused on getting the job done while controlling budget. I'm particularly pleased with the stone and brickwork. All the oak frame was reinstated though the sole plates and three other major timbers were replaced. The council conservation officer was very impressed. I'd recommend Spence to anyone who wants a contractor who can solve problems and genuinely cares about doing a good job.

Spencer and his team have undertaken a number of jobs at our house including a significant renovation in our basement. I have found them to be reliable and honest and have been very happy with the quality of work undertaken. Our house is over 150 years old and when problems were encountered I was very happy that situation was well explained and options were well explained.

We live in a victorian house in Hackney, and met Spencer when he did structural repairs next door to us. 8 years later, we contacted him as we needed similar work done, along with damp repairs. We are extremely pleased with the work carried out. The repairs needed to the roof and front columns were more extensive than originally anticipated, but Spencer had warned us about this, so we were not unduly surprised. We were included in all discussions and decision making as we went along, which was very reassuring. Throughout the works, Spencer and his team Nathan and Robert, arrived on time, worked hard and very well together, with an excellent attitude throughout. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kent Building and Construction Ltd due to their professionalism, work ethic and most importantly the excellent outcome as the front of our house will now be structurally sound for years to come!

This job has been a challenge for everyone! Kent Building and Construction enthusiastically picked up the project despite not being involved from the beginning. With the onset of COVID they carried on when possible, for as long as they could sourcing materials from a wide range of suppliers. The standard and quality of their work was excellent. They made suggestions and gave ideas about things we hadn't thought about which has enhanced and benefited our building project. They are professional, friendly and always contactable. We would have no hesitation recommending them (we have done so to friends) and we will be using them again in the near future.

My husband and I recently downsized. We asked Spencer Ellis of Kent Building & Contruction to take on our work. Another builder had begun the planning but was taken ill and pulled out; Spencer came and took over easily and well. We had a new build single storey kitchen/diner built out into the garden area, and some interior alterations as well. Spencer brought his excellent team - some came when needed, others were here with him. Spencer Ellis is an excellent builder for a client to work with. He knows what he is doing, and plans his work and his team well. We had no hitches or long unnecessary pauses over the time they were here. He listened to our queries and ideas, answered sensibly, and added our ideas to his work if they were good ones. He himself worked hard, as did his team. He told us he enjoyed his work, and sorting out any potential difficulties to make things work. He was pleasant and fun to work with, and was an encouragement and so helpful to my disabled husband.

Kent Building and Construction have successfully completed two projects for us; an extension to an old oak framed barn and refurbishment of our villa in France. Both builds, varying in diversity, have been executed beautifully and creatively each reflecting their different styles. The workmanship was of a meticulous standard with great attention to detail. Communication skills between builder and client was key to the completion of a high quality product. If you would like a house to be proud of, we would not hesitate to recommend.

Excellent work on extensive renovation inside and outside the house. Kitchen and Utility room were redesigned with a joining wall removed, new ceiling and tiled floor relaid. Reception hall stone floor removed and wooden floor laid, with existing wooden floors sanded and resurfaced. Walls and ceilings in bedrooms, dining room, lounge and hallway redecorated with stairs and banister also renovated. All external wooden windows sanded and resurfaced. Very high standard on all work and would highly recommend KBC Ltd.
