Established in 1961, and with over 60 years’ experience, Lowry Building & Civil Engineering (LBCE) have demonstrated outstanding leadership and business management since January 2023.

We expanded our Finance team with a Company Finance Officer and developed our digital Work Management System, enabling real-time performance assessments, accurate job costing, and forecasting. This allowed us to identify growth opportunities through GAP and SWOT analysis.

The analysis informed our Bid department's strategy, targeting new work streams and securing standards like Cyber Security Accreditation in 2024.

LBCE immediately addressed new CSR card requirements, securing NVQs for 90% of staff so far, well ahead of the December 2025 deadline, ensuring a fully qualified workforce.

COVID-19 created a number of challenges into 2021 and 2022 following the initial procedures we had implemented in 2020. LBCE complete essential maintenance for Clients such as NI Water to ensure clean drinking water and the treatment of wastewater and so it was critical to restructure our workforce to ensure standby employees were available 24/7 with equal training and knowledge.

The rising COVID-19 cases into 2021 and 2022 also required staff to remotely work during self-isolation periods, to overcome this our IT system was significantly overhauled to allow secure access to data at home.

The availability of skilled tradesmen are critical in the construction industry and with an aging workforce of very skilled tradesmen, we have actively recruited apprentices to train alongside these skilled employees and promote the industry in our local area, in local primary schools, secondary schools and colleges.

Luke Emery has completed an NVQ L2 in Wood Occupations and commenced his NVQ L3 in Site Carpentry.

He has also completed Emergency First Aid, CSR Training, Water Hygiene Training (Specific for working on water industry sites), Manual Handling, COSHH, Risk Assessment & Method Statement (RAMS), NIE D1 & D2 (specific training for working on Northern Ireland Electricity sites).

Luke is always eager to further his training, in addition to successfully completing the above registered training courses, he has taken part in many internal training sessions including site inductions, toolbox talks and apprentice mentoring sessions.
