MacGillivray Construction were the regional winners of best Heritage Project at the FMB Scotland Master Builder Awards 2017.
MacGillivray Construction were presented the award for an astonishing refurbishment to a traditional fisherman’s cottage, parts of which were 300 years old. The years had taken their toll on the building, with the builders expressing surprise that it was even still standing. Despite this, their hard work and dedication resulted in a wonderful cottage with a functional, modern interior.
About Us
MacGillivray have been working throughout Scotland for the past 13 years, working on amazing projects and gaining experience and knowledge in different types of construction. 
Past projects include eco-friendly houses in Findhorn and Edinburgh, a uniquely designed pottery studio on the North coast, a church conversion on the isle of Harris, and recently the replacement of part of a castle roof on the South West coast.

Dolphin Cottage Refurbishment - Winner of best Heritage Project at the FMB Scotland Master Builder Awards 2017

MacGillivray Construction undertook this ambitious refurbishment of a traditional fisherman’s cottage in the village of Findhorn, in which parts of the building are 300 years old. The project had to start with some rapid underpinning and support to prevent a complete collapse. The end result made all the hard work worthwhile, however, combining a traditional appearance with a modern functional interior.
Here's what the client said about the project:
"David McGillivray and his team renovated our tumble-down, 300 year old cottage with an eye for detail and to an extremely high standard. 
He dealt with all the surprises he came across during this challenging project in an efficient and professional way, whilst not forgetting about the character of this historic cottage.
