We bought our house in 2007. In 2017 it was time to start a large ongoing project to update and improve the property which was built circa 1890. The first phase involved extensive renovation to the basement, kitchen and front & rear external areas including the addition of a rear extension. As the homeowner you always have an idea of what you would like to achieve, we appointed Marshall Design and Build to do the work as not only did they provide the necessary assurance of their technical expertise but offered a full turn-key solution. They brought our ideas to life making recommendations and providing options along the way. Throughout the work they were professional and courteous. Nothing was too much trouble. Since then we have worked with Marshall Design and build on two further phases, designing and installing a wet room and an extensive corrective refurbishment of internal brickwork and staircase. Marshall Design & Build and his team extended our house through adding a porch, extending the garage and building a pitched roof. Internally they added and finished to a great standard a utility room. From our initial meeting with Craig we were impressed with his professionalism. Craig was very helpful as we finalised our plans and making decisions during the build. Craig and his team always left the place clean and tidy and our kids loved watching them do the different jobs around the house. Marshall Design & Build managed and built a single story extension above our double garage for us creating a new bedroom in our family home. It also involved converting an existing adjoining room into 3 areas which included an en-suite bathroom and a study area with built in furniture. We chose this company after a few quotes due to recommendation as well as feeling confident in his approach and manner from the outset. Craig oversaw all aspects of the build and organised different tradesmen and the purchasing of both materials as well as fixtures and fittings that we wanted. He was available for advice over these things and was always extremely helpful and able to offer sensible suggestions which showed his depth of knowledge. Both he and his colleagues were always punctual and very tidy as well as extremely courteous and respectful of being in our home which, along with his organisation of all aspects of the build made the process much easier for us as a family. Marshall Design & Build completed a full refurbishment of our garden shortly after we moved into our house. We obtained a number of quotes for the work and decided to go with Craig as he turned up on time and clearly knew his trade. Craig quickly established what we were looking for and assisted with design ideas, in keeping with our modern taste. We left the team working on the project whilst we went away on holiday and we trusted them implicitly with full access to our house. We had peace of mind knowing they were a professional team. As with all large projects there were some unexpected issues but Craig managed to work around these, without any stress being caused to ourselves. There were also additions we made as the build went along, such as integrated lighting and bi-fold doors, which were done without any fuss. We were kept fully informed throughout the build and we are delighted with the outcome. Over a year later the garden still looks brand new and our visitors always comment on how lovely it looks. Craig completed extensive alterations to my Mum’s house to make it safer and easier to manage as she gets on in age. The work was all completed according to our architect’s specifications, but Craig was really helpful in suggesting changes and additions as the project progressed –such as installing under floor heating instead of radiators which has been a huge hit with Mum! It was also very important to me that our builder was patient and considerate to my Mum’s needs because she found the building work rather stressful –Craig really went the extra mile and it was good to know there was someone on site all the time that Mum trusted. The work was all completed to a good standard and Craig was happy to return on a couple of occasions to sort out the inevitable snagging issues.
