We rebuilt a Victorian wall at the front of the old school house in Astwood in 2014.
We had to take down and clean the bricks from the old wall before laying new concrete footings.
We then rebuilt the wall exactly as it was when it was originally built. We used hydraulic lime to build the wall and sourced Victorian copings for the top where a lot had suffered due to poor cement repairs from the 1990’s.

We carried out a full repoint of the front facade of a grade II listed old bakehouse in North Crawley in 2016.
The house had been repointed in the 1970’s using a cement based mortar. We raked this out using hand tools and then repointed using a hydraulic lime mortar. As with the majority of listed buildings we used the exposed aggregate joint finish as per the conservation officers wishes.
We also had another craftsman in to render the other part of the cottage in lime.

The project was to rebuild a Victorian Brick Garden, using as far as possible the original bricks or reclaimed Victorian bricks. He approached this project with enthusiasm. This was a large project 10m x 1.5m and he achieved our objectives with care and a high level of professionalism. He would not lay lime mortar in rain or in temperatures below 5 degrees C. He and Tom worked carefully and accurately to provide an excellent result. To enable the lime mortar to cure properly through the winter, the whole wall is wrapped in bubble warp and hessian. I would regard him as a master craftsman. He does not compromise and would rather lose a day than lay old brickwork in inappropriate conditions. I would certainly use him again without hesitation..
