The work ranged from a complete replacement of heating system and re-wiring throughout the house, insulation of our roof along with the replacement of a detailed Victorian tiled hallway and the creation of a new basement exit.
Clients comments - The quality of work carried out on our house is of a high standard and we are grateful to Root Group for completing the project on time and to our requirements.

Recommended by a local architect, Root Construction were appointed to construct a portal framed, timber clad commercial unit/garage intended to house old, prestigous cars. The groundworks were interesting due to the requirement to excavate foundations to a depth of 3m. A block and beam floor was chosen to avoid any issues with ground heave as wet clay was prominent in the area.
This project was carried out concurrently with the re-roofing and structural repair works of the existing neighbouring barn. All the works were completed to budget but we overshot the original scheduled completion date by a couple of weeks du to the numerous additional works that were added to our remit such as the construction of a new concrete road.

Initially appointed to remove suspended ceiling grid left after previous tenant occupancy, after meeting us the client asked us if we would complete more and more of their shop fit-out project. Having been let down by the original contractor, the client finally entered into contract with us to complete the fit-out of the complete show room. This involved laying new porcelean tiles, installing a new suspended ceiling, construction of walls, installation of electrics, networks, plumbing, heating and ventilation. The project was a large one to undertake with little notice and with Christmas falling in the middle of programme but we completed it within budget and within the allocated time period.
Having had such success with this shop fit-out the main company have asked us to be their UK contractor for all installations within the UK, the next one being in Milton Keynes.

This was a large residential extension and loft conversion. With minimal access our task involved building a single storey extension to the rear of the property, removal of an existing first floor external wall and rebuilding in another location, and a complete loft conversion. Works were carried out under the appointment of a Contract Administrator with the client maintaining residence using a JCT Minor Works Contract. Nearby trees added to the complexity of this job due to additional dig depth and clayshield requirements. We also came across asbestos roof tiles which is uncommon. The project was sucessfully completed within timescales and budget set by the client.

Works involved renovating existing country house, constructing a 90m2 2-storey extension, external hard and soft landscaping. The aim was to bring an old, derelict house into the modern era with the introduction of underfloor heating throughout, solar water heating, rain water harvesting and high quality glazing throughout.
The project was professionally administered by the Clients Agent (CA) utilising the JCT Minor Works Contract. As the Principal Contractor we worked closely with the CA and the Client to ensure their expectations were met.

Great job done by Michael and the Root Guys. Work to a very high standard, they are definitely perfectionists. Easy to deal with, friendly, helpful and good value. There were various elements of extra work due to the age of the property but these were agreed quickly and easily, often with helpful suggestions on how to maximise the benefits. Would definitely use again!

Our client allowed us to publish the following email...
"Good Evening Gents
Pauline and I both feel it is necessary to drop the three of you a little note to say that we are very pleased with our very new and impressive showroom and in no way would this have been possible without our being introduced to Root and in turn your ability to step up.
In particular we believe a big thank you to Joe for his conscientious approach to our project is warranted.
Equally, we are both looking forward to the relationship growing between us in many ways in the future.
Kind regards,
Jeff Queen

The tiler who came was very professional and had an incredible eye for detail. The job took a little longer than expected but this was due to all of the bathroom hardware already being in place (the house was a new build), making cutting the tiles slightly more challenging. But I was very impressed with his effort to make each tile fit as well as possible and didn't cut corners by using grouting to fill in gaps from irregular tile placement.

After a long and lengthy tender process involving several local Gloucestershire construction companies, we just failed find an outfit which we were 100% sold on.
The three contractors who did respond were in the same ball park with regards to cost and timings however this project was a big huge step up for us in terms of complexity and risk….so having that warm that feeling you’ve made the right choice, and could work well together, was equally important
We were running out of time to find another contractor, so quite randomly, on a Friday night whilst quaffing wine, I posted the tender documents on several online portals. Within 20 minutes Mike form Root called me, keen as mustard to get a better understanding of the project and introduce himself. Straight away I felt as If they were professional, knowledgeable and eager to find out more.
Initially our architect was dead against working with Root, mainly because he hadn’t heard of them before but I persuaded him to at least come and meet them and get a feel for how they operate. And from that first meeting…the project ran as smooth as the proverbial baby’s bum. The architect was on-board as he could he see they very professional guys. They understood our concerns and fears and walked us through exactly how they will operate, what teams will be onsite, gave us confidence that they would hit each milestone on the projects, documented element of the project etc etc
The project was returning a huge 6 bed room townhouse to its former glory. The property hadn’t really been touched in best part of 30 years so the whole place had to be stripped back and we basically started again. We knocked down walls and ceilings, put up stud walls to make way for more rooms, fitted new plumbing system, new electrics, new floors, kitchen, bathrooms, new loft conversion…as well as hard wiring new fire alarm system, emergency lighting and all additional requirements to ensure property

It's actually taken a few months to write this review as I couldn't quite find the words to say how wonderful this company is. Root built a 3m x 8m kitchen extension with bifold doors on the back of our house earlier this year and it's utterly stunning.
They employ friendly, hardworking people who were fantastic with our little boy.
The work was completed quickly and they were able to start exactly when we wanted them to. They knew our budget and helped us to plan a room we would love but without pushing ourselves too far financially. They worked very long days, starting before I even woke up and frequently working until they ran out of light. These guys worked through snow and rain to build us an absolutely amazing space. They totally transformed our house.
Unfortunately we had a not pleasant8 experience with some plumbers during the works but Sam and Michael were able to help us rectify this.
I found myself quite sad on their last day, the house is stunning but they were all so lovely it was fun having them around. We have a few snagging bits (totally expected) and I'm really looking forward to seeing them again.
For some reason they only employ people called Steve or Laurence which makes remembering everyone's names a lot easier.
I highly recommend them, book them and you won't regret it but stock up on good tea/coffee and biscuits as these guys work bloody hard and deserve it.
