The first picture below shows the garden and patio prior to us starting work.The Client had a picture set in their minds of a raised patio area so you could enter it from the kitchen or the rear lounge exactly at the level of the main house. They also wanted a two burner Barbecue on the patio and to enclose the area with a glass balustrade with a hinged glass gate.In the garden. They wanted raised flower beds, loads of brick lights and a paved path to the rear gate. We then had to create a couple of steps from the patio down to the garden and again had to make sure it blended with the rest of the project. Then we had to tile the whole of the patio and the steps in a 'random' pattern, which I have to admit worried us at first but the final job was well worth all the worry, and I know the clients were very pleased with the finished article, which is the final picture.

I used Shadbolt (Design & Build) for a complete ground floor overhaul including converting a garage, adding a single story extension and making the ground floor one large open living space - while managing to preserve distinct areas for dining, kitchen and living. The build was a major upheaval to family life as my children were young at the time and the present kitchen was part of the ground floor renovations. That said they went out of their way to ensure we continued to have access to all services and facilities throughout. The build also involved moving the boiler and the main electrical head - but again this was managed so that it didn't impact family life. The end result was a stunning downstairs conversion that to this day still looks great. The snagging work post completion was no issues either and they addressed all snags without issue.

We’re incredibly pleased with the professional and high-quality work carried out by Alan S. Shadbolt and his team. After a wall unexpectedly collapsed, Alan swiftly replaced it with a beautifully finished fence panel, supported by sturdy concrete posts. The whole project was completed in under a week, even through the rain! Their dedication, attention to detail, and craftsmanship really stood out. The end result looks fantastic and feels built to last. Highly recommend them to anyone needing reliable and skilled work.

Excellent Kitchen Installation – Highly Recommended! I am delighted with the kitchen installation carried out by Shadbolt (Design & Build) Limited. From start to finish, the service was professional, reliable, and of the highest quality. They were punctual, tidy, and paid great attention to detail throughout the project, safely relocating the gas pipes to fit the new layout and installing a boiling water tap, which has been a fantastic addition. The finished kitchen looks fantastic and functions well. Communication was Alan and the team was clear throughout, and any questions I had were handled promptly and professionally. I have works with Shadbolt (Design and Build) Ltd, in my capacity as project manager on projects where the company was Principle Contractor. The company is very thorough and organised in setting up and monitoring the works. Workmanship is of a high standard, and the wealth of knowledge of the Alan Shadbolt as principle manager and his site manager make on site decisions, and problem solving of what might otherwise be challenging, easy to resolve. Alan Shadbolt is extremely easy to work with, having a proactive and positive attitude towards the project I have completed with him, and has been very responsive to returning to resolve any minor issues that have arisen post contract. I would not hesitate to recommend this company.

I came across Shadbolt (Design & Build) firm by accident while they were installing and upgrading a kitchen for someone I knew. Their work was to a high standard so I gave them a go at refurbishing a whole house for me. They did a great job, such that I then gave them four more refurbishments to do for me. This is not a 'Wham Bam' firm. They are thoughtful and meticulous, which I prefer over speed. Most important, even though they have now done numerous sizeable jobs for me, we have never fallen out over money. The price I was quoted was the price I was charged, with accurate and itemised stage payments. Even when I added 'extras' to the jobs, those extras were not over-priced and were incorporated seamlessly into the overall contract price. I wish I had more work atm for Shadbolt (Design & Build) in which case they'd be working for me - not you!!! The best compliment is this; When I have more work, as my FAVOURITE Building Contractor, I will be straight on to them! 10/10 to them!!!!!!
