This is phase one of a two phase project in Horsham, West Sussex. Phase one included a two-storey rear extension with a pitched roof, a single storey rear extension with a flat roof and the landscaping of the rear garden.

Internally, the property has been completely re-wired and had had a new boiler installed, complete with wet underfloor heating. A beautiful, engineered herringbone floor has been expertly laid, with a new kitchen diner, utility room, living room and WC completing the ground floor.

Upstairs, the master suite has doubled in size, whilst two new ensuite bathrooms and a new family bathroom have also been installed.

With phase two due to start in Spring 2027, we can’t wait to get back to this project and complete the front elevation.

Our brief for this client was to create extra living space for their growing family. With the addition of a two-storey extension, we have done just that.

Externally, the extension was designed to be in keeping with the existing property. This was achieved by combining handmade clay roof tiles, an open eaves detail, tiled windowsills and rendered external walls.

Internally, we have added two new bedrooms, one with an ensuite shower room, a new utility room and an enlarged open plan kitchen and family living area.

The goal for this project was to create an accessible ground floor for our clients, whilst incorporating modern and low maintenance materials. The newly formed structure gave room for a ground floor wet room, a utility room and an enlarged kitchen and living area. Six metre wide bifold doors lead out to the garden, making the new area perfect for entertaining.

This project involved the removal of the entire rear wall of the house and the installation of an eight metre long, two ton RSJ. With the assistance of two crawler cranes, we were able to do this safely and quickly.

There is a large set of aluminium sliding doors to the rear, which allow natural light to flood into the open plan space. A cleverly designed canopy, which is clad in cedar and zinc, stops the open plan area getting too hot.

The kitchen was relocated from the front of the house to the new open plan area, which enabled us to install a new utility room.

The brief for this project was to modernise this Victorian semi-detached house and bring in as much natural light as possible. Planning restrictions meant that the front of the property had to remain in keeping with the other houses on the street. To the rear of the property, there has been a huge change in aesthetic.

Designed by one of our partner architects, the exterior of the property combines grey aluminium windows and doors, white monocouche render and western red cedar cladding.
