Although it's the holiday season, the challenges and pressures facing our colleagues, business, and industry persist. I'm actively exploring ways the FMB can further support our members in the South through our events, webinars, services and resources. I hope the list below is helpful

Prepare for changing times

In the South, our members in the region have consistently reported huge demand for retrofit, maintenance and improvements, despite the unprecedented disruption we've all experienced over the past two years. However, signs are starting to emerge that client enquiry levels in the region are falling, heralding what could be a turn of the tide as we enter uncertain economic times.

As a Master Builder, you have a range of benefits to attract new clients and protect your business. A helpful tip I encourage all members to do is check your FMB Find A Builder profile and ensure you have up-to-date contact information, photographs, and case studies of your work, including testimonials from your customers. Participating in our events, particularly the 2023 Master Builder Awards, can further boost opportunities to secure new clients.

We're also here to help protect your business with our helplines that you can access through My FMB Helplines. These cover legal and financial issues, including insurance, technical queries and a link to Lighthouse, our chosen Construction Industry Helpline. If you want to find out more, contact [email protected].

Member benefit: Free training and webinars to skill-up your workforce

The FMB has a portfolio of e-learning topics readily available to FMB members. You can access all the e-learning tools in the member area that you can use to train your team members in your business.

The short, accessible courses are ideal for busy people! So, even if you have 20 or 30 minutes a day, that's all it takes! We have around 800 members registered in the E-learning platform now, and several have set up learning groups for their teams. The catalogue is frequently updated with new training programmes so remember to check in fortnightly.

We want you to be part of the next Homebuilding & Renovating Show in the South

Following on from the hugely successful Homebuilding & Renovating Show at Sandown in Surrey, we're looking for members in the South West to join our FMB team at the next show at the Royal Bath & West showground on 19th and 20th November. The event is an excellent opportunity to meet potential clients, provide advice as a Master Builder and raise your business profile. If you're interested in being part of this, we'd like to hear from you right now as places are limited. To find out more contact [email protected].

FMB South West region member networking day

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we've had to postpone our 29 September South West Golf day to 23 May. The event will welcome non-golfers and golfers alike, and we'll update you on further details nearer the time, so watch this space! If you'd like to find out more in the meantime, then mail [email protected].
