Are you a construction business owner finding it challenging to recruit an apprentice? Or perhaps you're unsure about the process?

If so, I have some exciting news to share...

As your representative at the FMB, one of my key roles is to ensure that you have the resources and support you need to thrive. With September just around the corner and the largest intake of apprentices starting at this time, I believe it's crucial to inform you about a valuable resource that can help you navigate the apprenticeship process.

Introducing the New Entrant Support Team

This new team is specifically designed to help construction employers like you navigate the pathway to successfully taking on an apprentice. This hands-on, free support covers areas such as recruitment, setting up your government funding accounts, helping find the right provider, and understanding the apprenticeship course and end point assessment.

What's more, they will also ensure you claim all CITB grants that you are entitled to – for apprenticeships, this is currently £2,500 per year for attendance and a £3,500 achievement grant upon successful completion of the full apprenticeship.

Continued support for your business

Once your apprentice has started, the support doesn’t stop there. The New Entrant Support Team will keep in touch and help signpost to other services that will support you and your apprentice on the journey. They are also about to launch training for you on mentoring an apprentice – a fantastic opportunity to further enhance your skills as an employer.

To get started, simply email CITB at [email protected] and an advisor will be in contact with you.

This is a fantastic opportunity for all of us in the FMB community to get the support we need to train the next generation of construction professionals. Let's make the most of it!

Upskilling your existing workforce with CITB Engagement Advisors

But that's not all. CITB Engagement Advisors are on hand to help you with all your training plans. They can advise on grants available and where to access training. The Skills and Training Fund is a great way to access funding for training and Engagement Advisors can walk you through the process.

To arrange a call with your local advisor, email CITB at [email protected].
