Major honours go to John Dynes & Son from Northern Ireland who not only scooped the highly prestigious and coveted award for Master Builder 2017, but also won top prize for best New Home Project at the Federation of Master Builders’ (FMB), Master Builder Awards 2017, on Friday 15th September.
Driving away with a Vauxhall Light Commercial Vehicle and £1,000 cash for his client, John Dynes was the worthy winner for work on a stunning family home in semi-rural Knockbracken. With an imposing façade and contemporary kitchen with views of the fields, the unique and innovatively designed house has many bespoke and original features, including a floating walnut staircase and hanging stone fireplace.
The project was not without its challenges and perhaps the biggest was that the client brought forward completion by eight weeks. This meant that the team at John Dynes had to work around the clock to meet the new deadline, which they did. The client was highly complementary about the result saying: “John Dynes had the vision to help us create the family house of our dreams and even managed to save us considerable amounts of money along the way, with their ability to negotiate costs.”
Commenting on the way in which this new build seamlessly incorporates traditional and contemporary building materials, the judges praised the builder for the work on the creative design, which so successfully meets the needs of a modern family.
The 13th Master Builder Awards is a nationwide search by the FMB to find the best builders in Britain and takes into account the builders' technical ability, together with its customer service skills.
Nick Knowles, TV presenter and building enthusiast, presented John Dynes & Son with its Award at the glittering awards ceremony in London.
