Wandsworth-based Orchestrate Design and Build Ltd took the best Small Renovation Project title for its work on an apartment in a listed Mansion block opposite the Natural History Museum.

The only access to the site was through a main entrance accessed by all of the building’s residents, which meant Orchestrate Design and Build Ltd had to contend with limited access and shorter working hours, according to building rules, to complete the renovation. In addition, the team had to protect, clean and maintain the communal areas daily. To avoid costly parking expenses, the team also travelled entirely by public transport and bicycles for the duration of the project, and minimised deliveries to avoid disruption to residents and the public.

Our judges commented that the renovation work demonstrated how Master Builders can deliver beautiful, bespoke, innovative work with exceptional craftsmanship:

“Here is a home transformed, where the word 'quality' needs a capital Q. The renovation boasts stunning joinery in the living room and a cleverly designed wardrobe in the master bedroom that hides the door into the ensuite bathroom.”

The project also featured a hand-finished kitchen and a beautiful family bathroom complete with a freestanding bath and an exquisite herringbone-tiled rear wall. The result is a beautiful property situated in the heart of one of the most desirable parts of London, and thanks to the efforts of Orchestrate Design and Build Ltd; now boasting one of the most desirable interiors one could ever wish for in a stylish flat.
