Since September 2021, new construction qualifications are being taught in Wales, in what has been described as the biggest shake-up to qualifications in the sector for a generation. The overarching aim is to streamline skills and raise standards that better meet the needs of employers in Wales. City and Guilds and EAL are the sole providers of the qualifications.
Employers have an enhanced role in the delivery of new apprenticeship qualifications. They will work with the learners throughout their apprenticeships, and will confirm when the learner has met the required standard for the trade. Apprentices will only qualify with the approval of their employer.
