After a nation-wide search, we’ve found the most Heavenly Builder in the UK.  Donald Capewell of Donald Capewell General Builders, was heralded as the most caring and accommodating builder at the Master Builder Awards 2017 hosted by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) on Friday 15th September.

Donald was awarded the title of Heavenly Builder for his outstanding work and considerate and compassionate attitude to a client in difficulty. The FMB Heavenly Builder Award is presented to a builder that epitomises what the awards are all about: professionalism, courtesy and exceptional customer service.

Donald’s client, David Campey, was recovering from radiotherapy treatment for throat cancer and had major reservations about going through the upheaval of building work while he was convalescing.  Deciding to go ahead anyway, he chose Donald to carry out the work on his new extension, knowing that he was renowned for providing a first-class and personal service.

At every step of the way Donald went above and beyond David’s expectations to ensure the build was as trouble-free as possible, keeping noise and disturbance to a minimum and even stopping work to have a chat and cup of tea, or re-scheduling works so that they could be carried out whilst David was in hospital.

Summing up his experience David said: “Donald was always positive and it felt like the work was being carried out by a life-long friend.”

Chief Executive of the FMB, Brian Berry said: “Donald is a notable winner of this Award.  His client, was obviously going through a very hard time and not only did he build the extension of his dreams, but he also gave David much needed support throughout his recovery process.”

Nick Knowles, TV presenter and building enthusiast presented David with the coveted prize at the Awards ceremony in London.
