Valentine Ltd from Bournemouth, Dorset beat the cream of the country’s builders to become the UK’s most Heavenly Builder at this year’s 10th Master Builder of the Year Awards which took place today.
Phil Spencer, presenter of C4 Location, Location, Location presented the award to the Gary Rutter from Valentine after being nominated by three different customers in Wimbourne for his exemplary building work and fantastic customer service.
Gary worked on three different homes in Wimbourne, building an extension and patio, a garden studio and an annexe extension to a bungalow. Each client said that Gary had gone the extra mile, as he not only delivered all work on time and within budget, but he also showed tremendous consideration to their individual needs. For example, Gary completely sealed off the living areas in client Gail Stuart and Mike Hennessy’s home while working, so that no dust could get through to aggravate Gail’s daughter’s Cystic Fibrosis.
As another client, Martin Bourne, said: “Gary and his team were always working, everything was on time, the site was kept clean and tidy throughout the build and Gary always discussed new products and ideas with us. We could see perfection in all stages of the work.”
The 10th Master Builder of the Year Awards, a nationwide search by the Federation of Master Builders to find the best builders in Britain, tests the entrant’s technical ability together with their customer service skills. The Awards are unique, as every entrant must be nominated by a satisfied customer.
Valentine triumphed to win the national award in the most Heavenly Builder category, which is supported by B&CE Benefit Schemes and HBXL.
Speaking at the Awards ceremony, FMB director general, Richard Diment said: “In this our 10th year, we are delighted to celebrate projects from small to large that would otherwise be overlooked. Size is not important. We are looking for solid craftsmanship, excellent customer service and a delighted client. The Awards give clients a chance to publicly thank their builder both for their excellent work and for the consideration shown to them throughout the build.
“For us it is heartening to see that so many clients, such as Gail Stuart and Mike Hennessy, Kevin and Sue Brownless and Martin Bourne, continue to invest in improving their properties, as well as considering the energy efficiency and sustainability of their homes,” Richard added.
“Our congratulations go to Valentine for this well-deserved award, but equally our thanks go to each of the clients who nominated them for the award,” said Richard.
