A recently completed job in Newton Abbot.
The three Dormer roofs were in a poor state so we fitted new timber ply then fitted the new single ply material.
The gable ladders on the roof were completely rotted and had to be replaced before we could carry on, also part of this job was to fit new Upvc White Cappit boards over the existing wooden fascia boards along with new guttering and downpipes.
We fitted in total over 6500 tiles to this roof along with special order created ridges which were very close to the original ridges.
This was one of our largest jobs to date with lots of moving parts to it and I am very pleased with the way it turned out.
I also want to say a big thank you to everyone involved.Read less
The customer contacted us as they were looking for a new conservatory roof along with new wood windows and doors.
The existing roof and windows were leaking badly due to the original construction and basically the materials coming to the end of their life.
We gave the customer a few options along with costs and they decided on a new Polycarbonate roof along with new bespoke made American Oak windows and doors.
This project took us five days from start to finish and the customer is extremely pleased with the end result. You can see their review of our work on our Devon Trading Standards, Buy With Confidence Page.
Another project completed and finished for a very happy customer.Read less
We were contacted by a very distressed gentleman who had a contractor carry out some roof repairs for him on his property which were substandard. The customer contacted us to fit a new roof for him and after receiving our quotation he duly accepted. Please see attached photos with customer review.
Customer review Mr D Burnham
After being conned by a rogue Trader in April of this year who damaged my roof beyond repair, I contacted Barclay & Co to put on a new roof in the original design. This work included taking down a chimney & insulation in the loft.
I am very pleased with the completed work & the dedication of their workers.
The customer contacted Barclay&Co as he had just bought his house and wanted a new garage roof.
We suggested a new EPDM rubber roof and explained the benefits to the customer and he was on board straight away.
A few photos from the job with customers review.
We had our garage roof completely repaired and are very happy with the workmanship, the service we received and the communication throughout. We felt the quote was reasonable and the work done very efficiently.
We would recommend this company to others and are already booking them for a further job.
Customer contacted us after we had previously carried out work for them.
They wanted to use the garage as an office so the first thing was to get the roof straight.
We removed the old tiles and battens then fitted new breathable roof membrane along with new treated timber battens then fitted the tiles back.
We finished the roof off with a new dry verge system and new dry ridge system.

I have been very impressed and I would highly recommend this company. Professional , keep you informed, reliable and hard working. I have a complete roof redone including some other tricky repairs and it has been done to an excellent standard. I am thrilled to have found such a reliable company.
Excellent excellent excellent thank you Sharon Vialis.
The couple contacted Barclay&Co as they initially wanted a roof survey on their property. Once we were up in the loft as you will see from the photos the roof felt was so badly disintegrated it was hanging from the roof.
We showed the customer the photos and they were shocked and immediately asked us to provide a quotation for new roof works. We pointed out the old roof tiles could be re-used which was a massive saving to them.

Steve and his team have been fantastic throughout the work on our house. Steve kept us informed through the job and we even asked him if he could board our loft at the same time which he did. The guys were professional and polite and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend Barclay and Co. Mr D Lant WhiptonRead less
The customer contacted Barclay&Co due to their concerns regarding the front of their house leaning towards the road. Under closer inspection it revealed the wall ties were letting go due to corrosion.
Our solution was simple. Remove the outside skin on both houses then rebuild back together again using the existing bricks, new stainless steel wall ties and insulation with a block and render finish on the top half as before.
You will see from the attached photo of the downstairs window how far the wall were leaning out 60mm.
This case study has been updated by the Federation of Master Builders. Comments from the independent inspector were as follows:
'This is an unusual project, the company are undertaking remedial works on a property that is only two years old but had serious faults at the time of building. The works include replacing all of the external softwood cladding with cedar, rendering and adding lead trays below windows and doors. The quality of the work being carried out was excellent and Nathan who showed me around the project was very knowledgeable.'
A few photos from a couple of jobs we completed in Exeter.
New fascia’s, windows, door, gutters and soffit’s.
Our clients were looking to become more energy efficient, so we built this outbuilding for them which acts as a log shed with power and, a 45% roof for the solar panels which are being fitted.
As you can see from the pictures we had to carry out some clearance to make this work for the customer along with a new concrete footing and retaining wall with coping stones and a new concrete base.
The roof is a new EPDM rubber roof with a 15 year warranty plus a 10 year warranty on the build from Barclay & Co.
This was designed by us along with the customer who is very pleased with the end result as are we.
A recent project for three separate neighbouring customers based in Exeter. All three roofs were stripped of the old existing materials including slates, felt and battens and the old parapet wall brickworks which were leaking into the loft space areas. The old bricks were replaced with a new 9 inch damp course on top of the existing wall then new slabs bedded down on a mortar bed to stop any water penetration.
The first roof to the left is in natural slates, with the other two roofs in man made fibre cement slates and all fitted with dry ridge ventilation systems for maximum airflow into the roof space areas. We also added new guttering in places and new downpipes where needed.
All three customers are extremely happy with the work and we have secured other work from this. Also, as members of the Consumer Protection Association, we were able to offer the customers (free of charge) 10 year warranties with each roof.
David Tait co owner of the Croft contacted us to discuss the problems with the render on the front of the building.
It had split and was breaking away and he was concerned about the situation getting worse. Our solution was to remove the old render front the front of the building then fit new stainless steel wire mesh then apply new render with additive’s.
David was extremely pleased with the end result as were we given it took weeks to get the old render off. Another happy customer.Read less
The customer contacted Barclay&Co as they were concerned about the cracks in the garage floor and walls.
These cracks were subsidence and we advised the customer to contact their insurance company who refused to pay out claiming it was wear and tear. We then advised the customer to get an independent report which they did and submitted it to the insurance company who still refused to pay out.
The customer by this time was fed up with all of it and asked us to knock down the old garage and build a new one. As you will see from the photos it was a lot of work but worth it in the end.
The customer had a new garage with a new EPDM rubber roof and new electrics.Read less
The customer contacted us as he was fed up with his roof leaking. After closer inspection the old felt roof had given up and had numerous holes in it and was badly repaired by another company.
We suggested a new EPDM rubber roof and explained the benefits of this one being, it will never rip or tear like a felt roof and would be much more cost effective going forward.
The customer agreed to a new EPDM roof and also wanted more insulation so we obliged with new 50mm celotex insulation.
We then made and fitted new timber upstands around the edges of the roof ready for the new EPDM.
These EPDM rubber roofs are fantastic value for money and will outlast any three layer felt system roof. They are flexible and stretch with the weather unlike conventional felt roofs which will tear.Read less

The current room was cold and the windows and roof leaked, we suggested new Upvc windows and a door with a new Polycarbonate roof. Inside new wall insulation finished with plasterboard then paint everything to a finish.Read less
Elderly couple contacted us as they wanted to utilise this old outbuilding into something better.
Our idea was to completely knock it down and start again. This compromised of new concrete footings, new brickwork/ block work along with new insulation. A new timber roof followed finished using the EPDM rubber roof system and new Upvc windows and door.
Inside we fitted new electrics, a new DPM fitted, new plasterboard then painted to a finish. Customers were over the moon with the finished article.Read less
