A daunting renovation project for first-time buyers Wade and Beth, who acquired the dilapidated property at auction, with no previous renovation experience!Westwood Cottage is a Grade II listed building of historical and architectural significance in the rural village of Hampton in Arden, near Birmingham.Starting with the architectural design and planning process, all construction work and alterations had to be applied for and approved by local authorities to protect the buildings history. The renovation was then a huge operation, calling on all of Hampton Group's specialist trades (building, roofing, windows, kitchens, bathrooms, heating and plumbing, electrical, plastering, painting and decorating.)Working closely with Beth and Wade, we transformed their 17th Century cottage into their dream home, accentuating the Grade II listed features along the way.But we can't take all the credit, the pair spent many hours (amounting to days) stripping the brick back to it's former glory in the 400 year old room which had been plastered over by previous owners! Head to our YouTube channel (Hampton Group) https://youtu.be/A2OUD10DOGM for a walk through tour from when we visited Wade and Beth two weeks after they moved in... they talk us through their favourite parts the renovation, including the room believed to have materials from the neighbouring historic site, Hampton Manor, in its construction origins!
(Photos show Before and After of exterior) A unique and contemporary extension to the rear of a traditional detached house. The interior was transformed into a large open plan kitchen, living and dining space, with lots of natural daylight coming through the skylights, and an amazing ‘glass wall’ looking out to the garden, made from electric sliding slim-frame aluminium sliding doors. Porcelain flooring was laid throughout the indoors and seamlessly joined to create a stunning outdoor patio area, making the garden feel like another part of the home.A unique feature of the building is the cedar cladded exterior, providing a strikingly modern aesthetic finish.
