"The new Treasure House was built on the site of one of the oldest buildings in Polzeath and required the demolition and clearance of a derelict house. The ground conditions were particularly difficult due to being sited in the sand dunes, close to a watercourse and having a 3m slope left to right. Simon Lawrence builders were contracted to undertake a huge range of tasks. These included : demolition, excavation, overseeing foundation work, grounds works, steel frame installation, blockwork and cladding, roofing, rainwater harvesting, Kargester, internal flooring, plastering, woodworking and decorating finish. In summary pretty much everything inside and outside the house except the heating/ventilation system and electrics. As a self builder what I really liked was Simon’s attention to detail and the ability to translate my ideas into a finished product. He was also very focused on retaining character in the house which you can see from the reclaimed wood, original house sign, Delabole slate cills and stone walling he finished the house in. Ultimately this attention to detail produced a quality product and I would certainly recommend him to other developers." - Iain
