At the FMB, we have a number of members involved with heritage projects, from ongoing maintenance to renovation, and there is an opportunity to help inform Historic England as they look to develop proposals on how to protect and preserve England’s heritage buildings (both historic and older). Led by Harlow Consulting, the survey will look to learn more about the workforce involved with heritage work and the associated training provision, along with any skills gaps and shortages (something which affects all aspects of the building industry).

How you can get involved

The research aims to create a profile of the workforce and associated training programmes, pinpoint skills gaps and shortages, and provide recommendations on the best strategies for preserving and safeguarding our heritage building skills. You can read more about the research here.

You can find the full survey, which is open until February 2024, here.
