The FMB is run by members for members. At a national level, the FMB is governed by an elected, all-member Board of Directors, with day-to-day management delegated to a Senior Management Team. Meet the team below.

Phillip Hall
Phillip Hall is the managing director of Hall Construction Ltd. Based in the Cotswolds, Hall Construction specialises in high-end period property renovation, including the refurbishment of Grade 1 & Grade 2 listed buildings. Established in 1983, the firm is committed to the use of traditional skills and methods of building, employing highly skilled tradesmen to ensure first-class results.

Alastair Raitt works for H M Raitt & Sons Ltd; which was founded in 1906 in Musselburgh. It is a family owned and run company, currently in it's fourth generation and undertakes commercial, domestic, new-build, restoration and renovation works of any size.
Chris Carr
Chris Carr
Chris Carr works for Carr & Carr (Builders) Ltd; house developers and general construction contractors for over 90 years. Carr & Carr specialise in high-end new homes and have won awards for their developments in the North East Lincolnshire area.
Aidan Cropper
Aidan Cropper
Aidan Cropper is Director of Ipsum (UK) Ltd based in Nottingham. Aidan started within the industry straight after leaving college, working as a cladding operative on various industrial and commercial sites Nationwide. Aged 20, Aidan began the journey of building his own home whilst still working as a cladding operative. Inspired by the experience and knowledge gained through building his own home he then started completing small building projects for domestic clients as a sole trader. In 2011 Aidan incorporated Ipsum UK Ltd. Ipsum now have a highly skilled and experienced workforce, winning multiple awards. They undertake New Build, Commercial, Extension and Renovation projects. Aidan has a passion for construction, modern methods and enjoys continuing to learn in this ever-changing industry.

Angus is the founder and Director of Spey Building and Joinery Ltd. Angus loves to build energy efficient properties in rural, often very exposed and dramatically beautiful areas and his preferred market is for the large domestic or small commercial client. Spey Building and Joinery Ltd operate as principal contractors with the majority of trades held in-house.

Annie Summun works for Sutton-based construction company Kisiel Ltd. Their business approach is characterised by a strong focus on fully understanding the needs of our clients and delivering on our promises, regardless of the scale or complexity of the project.

Joe Cole
As the owner of the successful and locally revered building company, All Build Developments, Joseph brings a wealth of practical construction knowledge and experience to the table. His skills have been essential when it comes to ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the high standard that clients have come to expect.
Joseph has a passion for Construction that started way back in his grandfather’s garage where he used to spend time practicing joinery with his beloved grandfather Jim. From humble beginnings making bird boxes and garden furniture, Joseph has progressed through his career, becoming instrumental in the completion of several care homes for a well-known national company, as well as other challenging commercial contracts.
Joseph has been an active member for the FMB serving on the South West Board for a number of years and has represented the Federation at several trade events where he has enjoyed interacting with members of the public giving advice on how to find the right builder for their projects. Joseph has a keen thirst for construction knowledge and frequently undertakes further training to learn about new Modern Methods of Construction. He has recently begun his journey to become qualified in the techniques required to build Passiv Haus and aspires to one day be able to build an off-grid carbon neutral home.
John Ford
John Ford
John has spent a lifetime in the building industry starting with a carpentry apprenticeship at 15 and into management in his early 20s. In 2014 John and his son Michael set up Build My Home Ltd based in Brighton. The multi award winning company takes on all types of domestic building work from new build homes to refurbishment.
Mark Gribbin
Mark Gribbin
Mark Gribbin is director of Setanta Construction Ltd; established in 1963 by Liam, Eamon and Joe Gribbin with the ambition of building highly insulated timber frame homes. Mark and Niall Gribbin picked up the mantle in 2000 with Setanta, which is is currently responsible for 20% of the Zero Carbon builds in Northern Ireland.
Michelle Radford
Michelle Radford
Michelle Radford is Business Secretary for Radford Construction Services Ltd; a family run, traditional firm providing all aspects of building work and project management. They are based in Chester le Street and specialise in dilapidations, dental and doctors surgery refits, conversions, extensions, maintenance and refurbishments of any size and type of property.

Robert Williams
Graham Williams is Director of Dr. Williams (Felinwnda) Cyf/Ltd; a professional building company based in Caernarfon. Established in 1966, they have over 50 years' of experience in the building industry and undertake a wide array of projects, no matter how big or small they may be.

Brian Berry
Brian Berry
Brian Berry is the Chief Executive of the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), the largest trade association for SME building companies in the building industry. He is also a member of the Construction Leadership Council (CLC). Prior to his current position Brian was Director of External Affairs at the FMB. Before the FMB, Brian worked at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), where he was Head of UK Public Policy, and as a teacher at The Charterhouse Square School in central London. Brian is a Freeman of the City of London, a Director of the Tiverton Almshouse Trust and Trustee of YouthBuild UK. He regularly provides commentary on construction issues for the media.

Caroline Hughes
Caroline Hughes
Caroline Hughes is Operations at the FMB and a member of the Senior Management Team. She is responsible for managing FMB’s operations, IT, FMB’s properties and FMB Connections commercial relationships. Caroline is a member of the ILM (Institute of Leadership Management) with expertise in operations management and project support in the property, construction, automotive and retail sectors.

Emma Whyatt
Emma Whyatt
Emma Whyatt is Director of FMB Insurance and their Coversure Ely brokerage, as well as a member of the FMB’s Senior Management Team. She has a degree in Business Management, qualifications from the Chartered Insurance Institute and is currently working towards her Advanced Insurance Diploma (ACII). With 11 years’ experience in the construction insurance sector, she heads up the overall running and strategic direction of the FMB’s insurance team, providing relevant insurance solutions and protection to members of the FMB and their customers.

Graeme Copestake
Graeme Copestake
Graeme Copestake is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a Chartered Tax Advisor.
Graeme’s role is to ensure the integration of the financial performance of the FMB's strategic plan by working closely with the Chief Executive, the Senior Management Team and the Board.
Graeme and his team have also worked with similar sized membership and professional association organisations.

Hayley Lorimer
Hayley Lorimer
Hayley Lorimer is Director of Membership Services at the Federation of Master Builders, and a member of the FMB’s Senior Management Team. Hayley was Director of Training at the FMB from 2011–2015, and prior to that Director of the FMB’s Southern Region. Hayley has responsibility for the development of a range of modern and relevant services and business support to help the FMB members run profitable and safe businesses.

Ifan Glyn
Ifan Glyn
Ifan Glyn is both the FMB Senior Director for the UK Hubs and the Director of the FMB in Wales. As Senior Director, Ifan balances his responsibilities in Wales with line management duties over the Directors of the other devolved nations and English regions. He is also a member of the FMB Senior Management Team. Ifan holds an MA in History from the University of St Andrews and an MSc in Welsh Government and Politics from Cardiff University. Ifan has held three roles during his time at the FMB. He initially joined as a Public Affairs Executive before becoming the Director of the FMB in Wales and then the FMB UK Senior Director.
