Case Studies

Architects Studio Office refurbishment

This former jewellers shop was completely transformed into the studio office for an architect. The desk 3.5m x 1.0m in the photo was constructed from concrete and plastered with 'Portofino' a marble plaster. Many hours were spent in the design process as the project evolved. The sink (not visible here) also 'Portofino'was also made by us. The facade was of timberframe construction with external wall insulation. We put the extractor fan in the cloakroom above the ceiling and created a shadow gap around the perimeter to enable the airflow. This worked extremely well and would even close the door. The tiles used were mosaics and the floor was white cement based flooring from Ardex - mainly used in commercial areas. There is more info about this project, as well as many others on our website.

New Offices for Meadway Properties, Walthamstow

This project involved the part demolition of an existing structure and then build a new timberframe building within the confines of the existing structures on all 4 sides. The construction was carried out using loose timber -stickbuild with 2 end blockwork end walls to maintain rigidity necessary due to the grnd to roof flight of stairs. The copper sliding security door is currently shown in the closed position but opens up to reveal the fully glazed entence door. There is also a small copper covered roof (not shown here) connecting the new with the existing building. This building has really nice ambience and a really nice working envirionment - the client told me! I also pay social visits when I'm in the area. The photo  was taken prior to occupation as you can see the windows boarded up.

More details for this and other projects are shown in more detail on our website.
