Minton Young is a Sussex design and build company. We have over 20 years experience in the building industry combined with over 10 years in the design industry. We offer our clients a comprehensive service from concept to finished product.

We are competent in all areas of the building trade, where even the most complex challenges are welcome. Our expertise also includes offering professional planning services; involving full CAD plans, access statements and Planning Officer consultation.

Reducing the environmental impact of building is at the heart of Minton Young’s ethos. We offer knowledgeable advice to clients on current environmentally sustainable technologies and practices, including energy saving methods. Award Winning Renovation

We carefully reinstated this charming, 16th century property back into a family home where previously it had a variety of uses. Due to the heritage of the property it was essential that we were sensitive to the original features, but where possible use environmentally responsive techniques. NBT - Pavandry Wood fibre internal Insulation was installed throughout, along with underfloor heating to create a cosy yet airy feel.

A galleried staircase replaced an existing mezzanine level which doubled the height of the entrance hall, transmitting light throughout. Glass doors were fitted into the newly discovered, oak beams, creating a perfect frame through the new extension to the garden.

The bespoke kitchen and diner, married with the Limestone floor tiles compliments the existing building fabric, whilst supporting a modern family lifestyle.

The family bathroom was relocated and fitted with stylish yet energy-efficient sanitary ware and the traditional floor tiles with central mural give a classic finish. All Main rooms throughout the house were given a whole new lease of life.

Externally, extensive repairs were made to the existing elevations and perfectly matched bricks were sourced to build the new extension. New bespoke timber windows were installed where restoration was not possible. With every detail carefully considered this property is a thing of outstanding beauty

  

 

 

Contemporary Renovation

If you ever wonder where our capabilities lie, then look no further than this wonderful family home. Along with the client, we planned it, designed it and built it. We could not have asked for better clients, who were willing to trust us implicitly with our design intentions and direction. Our brief was simple. To modernise, extend and create a contemporary home for a new family. The path was not an easy one; a sensitive planning application to extend which was like a roller coaster ride taking twists and turns along the way did hamper things but did not compromise the design.

At the heart of this house is undoubtedly the kitchen. A 70sq metre room with a superb kitchen from Hubble. The room is filled with light from a 4 metre long skylight which emphasis's the large format concrete floor tiles and the brick slip feature walls. The aluminium bi-folding doors lead out onto a completely level terrace, which really connects the spaces. The house is now well equipped from the control4 home automation system to the technical heating system. Every room had a make over. We loved working on this job and we think it shows.

 

DC Storm

This office refurbishment in the heart of Brighton City centre is the result of a collaboration between Minton Young Ltd and Nicola Gobat interior designer. The team worked together to deliver a feature packed environment worthy of any successful media company. Features include a meeting room tailored to a rock music theme, inspired by the acquisition at a charity auction of a guitar belonging to a member of The Rolling Stones. There is also a quiet, library style room giving the staff an opportunity to collect their thoughts, stimulate thinking and focus their imagination away from the busy and hustling main office. The kitchen / juice bar encourages healthy living and was built with bespoke birch ply cabinetry with a unique art-deco style figurehead piece. Modern lighting components compliment a feature wall which was built using fruit crates, and exclusive artwork painted directly onto the walls creates a colourful, fresh, tango style environment.

The main office space contains unique timber ceiling raft features which float elegantly above the desk areas and emphasis the exquisite lighting protruding below. Many functional elements were crafted into the design with cupboards and printer cabinets built into walls, illuminated overhead cabling and high level monitor screens.

 

Fabulous Family Home

We transformed this 3 storey terraced house in Brighton into a glorious masterpiece with the design orientated toward keeping the original Victorian feel with modern benefits. A Vaillant boiler in the loft space powers the designer radiators in each room as well as the underfloor heating underneath the marble tiling on the kitchen floor. All rooms received new plaster to give them modern crispness and 1st class decorating. The floor was given a smooth fine sanding and a beautiful deep stain which was then finished with a luxurious wax oil. The bathroom features a fully tiled walk-in shower and a hand crafted brass bath alongside traditional sanitary ware. The downstairs closet features a WC from the authentic Thomas Crapper & Co. Ltd. The kitchen is fully bespoke and includes all integrated appliances, a Belfast sink and a range cooker inset into the original fireplace. The entire house was rewired to meet current regulations
