1966 Routemaster Bus Conversion - Winner of best Small Renovation at the FMB Northern Counties Master Builder Awards 2017

We performed the complete conversion and fit-out of this original 1966 Routemaster bus, turning it into a bespoke luxury hotel room. The bus is complete with a luxurious bathroom and a replica 10 Downing Street door knocker. The conversion was part of the overall renovation of South Causey Inn.

This project required us to completely strip the interior and resolve the condensation due to the metal structure of the bus. Templates were made for all the new fittings and the roof and side panels had to be removable to enable fixing for plumbing and electrics.

The design aimed to maximise the confined space and enable reinstatement of the original bus.

Our work on this project won us best Small Renovation Project at the FMB Northern Counties Master Builder Awards 2017. Find out more about the awards here.

South Causey Inn Renovation - Winner of best Commercial Project at the FMB Northern Counties Master Builder Awards 2017

Radford Construction Services converted this old stable block into luxury, individually designed guest suites for the local South Causey Inn hotel. This even included a treehouse room, incorporating a living tree and a ‘shed bed’ made of hand-picked silver birch. The unique nature of these rooms required lots of different skills to be utilised for the finishes. Lots of reclaimed materials were used for the bespoke design.

Challenges included knocking down the original facade of the stable and supporting the roof. This made digging out the foundations for the new facade difficult due to height restrictions and the tight space for the digger.

This project was awarded best Commercial Project at the FMB Northern Counties Master Builder Awards 2017. To read more about the Northern Counties awards, click here.
